I probably would have tried the following: 20. bxc5 Bxc5 21. c4 e4 22. dxe4 Bxe4, with a very strong attack by Black.

the point was that you made one cool-looking yet very typical sac. It didn't require lot of calculation to see you get at least great attacking chances for your knight. I would have seen it (and played it) in a bullet game. It was the most natural move to consider, nothing special.
