Stumbled upon this by chance.
I was trolling though games on auto play spotting shots.
When you get a ‘hit’ you stop auto play and look.
Was about to chalk this up as a missed mate by Black
but plodded on as I noticed it ended 1-0.
First Black’s missed mate. Black to play
He played 25….R2c4.
The mate is fairly straight forward. Check all Checks.
25...R8c3+ 26.Kxd4 Rd2+ 27.Ke4 Re3 mate.
(note the pattern, you do not even need that Rook on d2)
Black missed a clear win of a piece a move or two later with a Knight fork.
26...Rxc1 27.Bxc1 works. (he missed it).
Black most likely only saw his back rank weakness
and that 27…Rxc1 28.Ra1 mates
But 27…Nxb4+ should have been spotted.
“Enough.” screamed Caissa. “For you I have planned something very special.”
And she did. A mate only a very few chess players ever achieve.
Amazing how a silly little game like this can brighten up my day.
I feel honored to have been given the chance to pull it from obscurity.
Ignore the fact White mates with a lone Bishop v two mighty Rooks,
look how he does it.

[fen] 2r3k1/5ppp/Rp2p3/3nP3 ...[text shortened]... Rxa7 36.Bf4+ g5 37.hxg6 {And that ladies and gentleman is a mate en passant. Brilliant.} [/pgn][/b]
HA! I told you it was once in a lifetime game!
It was the remains of a previous note where I rabbit on about
why people miss these thes things, saying if the pawn
on d4 had been white, Black would have seen it right away.
In the game Black played R2-c4 to hold the d4 pawn...
....rather than let it go and mate him.
There followed waffle about looking only one move ahead and getting
priorities wrong.
I deleted it(!) as I felt I was taking too much attention away from the game.
There are actually two other games I found on RHP with ep mates.
chessber - thesag2 RHP 2007
And this one where the mate comes from the pawn who has
just captured ep!
rook56 - Cheshire Cat RHP 2010
I wonder what has happend to Cheshire Cat.
His 2nd last post Thread 129236 April 2010 states
he runs a computer repair business.
Then you see his profile and all these mass resignations dropping his
grade to 945. He says:
"Sorry everyone! My computer was down."
