When the Sex Pistols released the album "Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols", a Nottingham record shop was threatened with prosectution for displaying the apparently obscene album cover. However a professor of linguistics at Nottingham University was able to prove the word "bollocks" had an old English meaning as referring to a priest and the prosectution was overturned. The word bollocks can therefore not be considered obscene.
