"Secret Notes" and once again I can't help noticing bad translation into English (from Russian), as in Genna Sosonko's books and Sosonko got even worse translations.
But we are hungry for such insiders' insights and we have some knowledge-in-advance, so we can decipher that Russian soul and Russian expressions.
If it were book on some other subject I would be probably cursing all the time "Which idiot translated this?!"

The novel by Håkan Nesser was good and kept me busy and interested. I'm presently without a good book and would appreciate suggestions.
"We, the drowned" by Carsten Jensen
Originally posted by @vanderveldeThank you, vandervelde. Both have good reviews - good stories and well-written. Carsten Jensen's 678-page book maybe "...best read during long winter's nights...". I'll enquire at the library for both.
