I'm reading a story by a Sicilian author, Leonardo Sciasica, called Una Storia Semplice. It's only short, quite good.

The Beatles : The Biography by Bob Spitz

It's kind of neat in that it isn't the normal schlock written about them. Pretty in depth and marries up what point they were in their lives with what was going on sociologically at the time.
