If it helps, I take my skin off when eating sherry trifle.

Haha, in all honesty, I openly admit to being a cream first then jam. It just looks much more presentable.

You Brits do have a few really awful habits best kept to yourselves, and trifle is one of them. Black pudding is another. Fried bread is worth a dishonorable mention. I never quite got the point of tepid beer; I ‘d take a cold Murphy’s over a warm bitter any day.

And, yes, I know that Murphy’s is Irish,

We're not known for our cuisine. You get used to it. There are some nice things though.

I don't eat sugar or dairy. I regret I can't contribute to this debate.

Oh yes, there are lovely bits, if you know where to look for them. A chelsea bun, still warm, from Fitzbillies, King’s Parade, Cambridge is peerless on a foggy morning.

Your trifle is perfectly safe in my proximity.

I, like you, don't live in the UK anymore. I haven't for a couple of years but I will return at some stage in the near future.

I visited my family in Northern Ireland last July, and everything was fine. London was fine too. In fact, the whole country seems really fine. The sky has not fallen in at all and most people who live there have moved on.

I don't want to debate you in the general forum. Just giving you my perception of it.

I note that you have contributed to discussion on drugs and prostitution.

Would you mind if we pretended I had said that?

I more accurately should have said, "back away from insulting the trifle.'

Warm beer is a myth.
Bitter should be served at "cellar temperature". (about 12C)
Dark beers, stouts slightly warmer.
