An outbreak in New York State.
National Emergency!
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-47715169

Apparently vaccination rates are low with parents denying their
children vaccinations on religious grounds and/or fears of autism
(yes that old chestnut that was debunked decades ago)

Only in America!

Sadly, no.
Outbreaks in Christchurch and Auckland and a scare in
Dunedin. My daughter was quarantined for a week after
an infected adult collected a child from kindergarten.

Time to make vaccinations a legal requirement?

Things that never get old:

1. Jokes about vaccination deniers
2. Children of anti-vaxxers

I should have posted this on DEBATES,

Isn’t there a strong case to ban unvacinated children from pre-schools?

I made the MMR decision 23 years ago when research was ongoing. As soon as I read that there was a risk of encephalitis from measles I went for the risk of Autism and got my kids vaccinated. Some well off parents paid to get three separate vaccinations which the NHS was being asked to consider but refused on the grounds of cost.

We were warned of a likely epidemic? Time to make it a legal requirement.

Yes the noise around this was huge at the time in the UK; if memory serves the Tony Blair had his kids triple vaccinated rather than MMR’d. He then screwed up by claiming it was parental choice, which is the truth, but as you say not affordable for most.

I’m not sure if the system of 3 vaccines is any better now?

An article from 2015 stated that most USA outbreaks arose via Disneyland, Southern California, the theme park having many international visitors who were unvaccinated.

You sir are a medical miracle!
The chances of getting measles after full vaccination is less than 5%.
(That is after full contact with an infectious person)

Getting measles twice is IMPOSSIBLE.

There is no risk.

I believe this was totally debunked and the "scientist"
involved vilified for his ridiculous statistical technique.

Do you happen to know if there are any stats on cases of autism in groups who had MMR vs groups who didn’t fax and groups who had the three separately?

Longitudinal studies are underway.
Meanwhile, "science deniers" will continue having the loudest voices in the room.

Etiology/ Relapse in measles, second attacks of measles are classified as recurrent or relapsing, while the original infection is still present in the system in recurrent attacks, the disease recurs months or years later.
