What do you think of Craig’s recent condemnation of there being a female Bond ? There is a lot of chat about in on social media today.
Didn't see it. But Craig is a Brit, so I'm not all that surprised. I think American actors would be more amenable to a female Bond. Myself, I'd rather see a black Bond before a female Bond. I thought Idris Elba was a good pick for a black Bond.

I'm away now from most social media, internet yak-yak sites. The only internet I have where I am right now is my phone, so I'm self-limited, which I'm considering a good thing.

Indeed. Presence and a quality actor.

I checked out your link (thanks for that, btw), and I think he's right. Women would be better served by having their own strong characters, rather than playing a traditionally male character. I get his point, shared as it is by Barbara Broccoli. There have been many spy/action-oriented movies with strong women leads in the past few years. Forcing a woman into the Bond role for the pure controversy doesn't do the genre any justice.

It’s actually a sleight on women I think. Presuming that sexual equality should be achieved by getting a woman to portray an ostensibly male character undermines the very principle of equality through the inference that a woman needs to do that. It’s convoluted virtue-signalling. Women are far better represented by them playing strong women characters surely.

Having a female Dr Who worked well, due to the premise of that series (regeneration) but Bond should always be played by a male actor, as was intended by the author. A female Bond would indeed be a gimmick.

Eh, some people like to stir the pot. Calling it virtue-signaling seems a bit overboard, but yeah, doing it for the controversy seems counter-productive. Let women choose how they wish to be represented.

If it were race instead of gender, it would be called cultural appropriation. We don't need to foster gender appropriation. Most women don't want to be men, after all. Let's not limit ourselves.

Women should definitely choose how they want to be represented, for sure. The virtue signalling points to those people, those men, who feel that it’s right on to present a case for a women to play Bond, when to the rest of us the suggestion appears a bit silly and contrived.

Chuck Norris would pound any Bond into a mush.
So your argument is invalid.

A Bond without shagging is like Star Trek with no space travel.

That could work. The Vulcans could be musicians and set the whole thing in a jazz club. A Romulan could just be a type of drink that they serve. It would be a lot more mellow.

Music that transports you to a different dimension without any need to Q.
