My (unsolicited) advice sir is do likewise with your recent breakup. Absolutely it is not cool for a partner to lie, but perhaps also ask the question of yourself "Why did she feel the need to do so?" Do you perhaps have a temper she was trying to avoid, do you have trust issues? Are you an unforgiving person? - Use this as an opportunity to become a better man and have better relationships in the future.

You're right.
Life it self is a learning experience. I don't know if two people were made to be together for life. I know many who have and appear happy in public. I don't see what they are like at home though. I've seen people who I thought were quite happy break up which come as a shock at first, now it is just another long term couple breaking up. The average marriage in Hollywood lasts 5 years according to a survey I looked at not that long ago.
