Eh, my TV is a 42" wide-screen (16:9), 1080p. Could be a magnification issue, I suppose, but I don't see the "static" you're talking about, even when watching cable HD programming. My HDMI cable came with my Toshiba player I think, so nothing special there. Maybe your cable is actually damaged. I think I'd replace that first, just to see, as Crowley said.

And oh yeah, I do have mine connected by ethernet cable so I have the software upgrades too. You never know when there might be an issue there.

Thanks for all the responses. I have ordered a new (cheap cable) for starters. I am getting the player updates in a few minutes as well.

I'll keep trying different things if that doesn't help (more expensive equipment/etc).
