The extremely clever Don McLean song 'American Pie' used exactly the same couplet

' while Lenin read a book on Marx
The quartet practiced in the park'

Lenin = Lennon (didn't take much for McLean to sing 'Lennon'. )

Quartet = Beatles (often thought a reference to their Abbey Road outside jam)

I always wondered who the 5th Beatle was if John was reading a book on Marx!

(I would add Marx and park is a v poor rhyming couplet!)

Duchess - In reading your posts, I must admit, I do agree with a great many of them. It's a sad thing that once someone makes your 'enemies list' they never seem to be able to get off of it.

Yes I agree.
I defended her (him/it) on occasions but then we had an argument over grammar
(which she lost) and I was discarded to the "enemy" basket.

It is a pity that someone with worthwhile
