You are honestly saying that the constitutional right to carry guns, essentially with few limitations, does not significantly increase the chances of an event of this horrific barbarity taking place?
The reason that terrible events of this nature continue to happen in the US is the availabilty of guns and acceptability (Both legally and socially) of owning and carrying guns. Apart from hunting, policing and military purposes there is no need for a person to reasonably own a gun.

Having read about the subject earlier the idea was implanted in my head (somehow) that the location of the shooting was in Canada. In writing my response that error made it's way into my post without any quality control (like re-checking where you said it happened - the United States)

More people responsible for their own kids instead of putting them into schools would have done the job too. Just one more reason to teach your own kids at home.
