I disagree. The right successfully trashed the word "woke" and turned it into a weapon.

You're correct that high prices for basic needs trump social politics for most voters. But economic issues are more complicated to discuss, where as "men in dresses" is much easier to use as a talking point.

Americans have short attention spans. Woke politics is much more attention-grabbing than economics.

It's a tough call, this Nov. election. While maga are disappointed at higher fuel prices, there is no deal breaker for them--not raping children, not a war he can't finish, not a second war he can't finish, not trashing America's best and staunchest allies, not cosying up to No. Korean and Russian dictators. So long as Trump targets people they hate, they will back him. Hate is a strong emotion, and Trump knows well how to stoke it. Hate switches off the frontal cortex, wh/ is where rational decision-making occurs. Hate is a visceral response, and Trump operates on that level very effectively. His lies don't matter to maga--they respond to his tone, his anger and calls for vengeance.

I am hoping that the roughly-one-third of voters who did not vote in the 2024 presidential election come out in force this time and tip the scales decisively against Trump and the GOP agenda.

I agree with critics of the Democrats, in that the Dems have been sleepwalking these last ten years, ever since the Electoral College handed the White House to the loser of the popular vote in 2016. Mamdani is the man to watch; if his recipe for customer satisfaction gets traction in NYC, it might prove to be exportable to other states and, eventually, even the federal level.

Republicans blocked a border bill while Biden was in office. Clearly, the border is just a political tool to them and not a real concern.

Before discussing Dem's future economic plans: what are the Republicans current ones? Surely you can answer since they're in power now?

Is it more tax cuts for the rich? Raise money by gutting Medicaid and SNAP even further? Pay clean energy sectors even more tax money to *not* create businesses?

Exactly. When the country is geared for Socialism for the wealthy, yknow too big too fail, but socialism for the middle class/working class and poor, no we can't have that....Spend money on education, infrastructure and support industry that gives rise to a well paid workforce. Thats what the Democrats stand for. The culture wars stem from the right wing being unable to accept the constitution that imbues each citizen with inalienable rights. The right wing prefers to dictate to you as to what you should do and the only rights they respect are those which they determine to he correct.
