Sure, all we need is to destroy the evil insurance companies and have Uncle Sam take over full control of health care and then all our worries will be over. Over night health care will then be affordable for all!! I'm sure the government will manage it in such a way that will not drive up further a $15 quadirilicanmilican deficit.

Of course, if it were not for those evil conservatives our we would have our medical utopia. 😠
It seems to work everywhere else, so I don't see why it wouldn't work in the U.S.

Last I checked Europe was in financial turmoil. Reckless spending is destroying the world economies.

Some European countries are in trouble, others are doing just fine.

Just like the States. For example, conservative states like Texas had a surpluss but liberal states like New York and California are in dire straights. Of course, when we all get thrown in the mix together we have to pay for other peoples misdeeds. Sounds fair, eh? Its what makes socialism so great!! In fact, I have to pay for other peoples misdeeds regarding smoking in socialized medicine. Why should I have to?

No, let's do nothing like you right wingers want and see the amount spent on health care continue to spiral as a share of GNP (already the US' has the costliest in the world) while delivering substandard results to our population.

That worked great after 1993.

Go to Wajoma's cave if you don't like it. Or point out to me a society of humans that existed anywhere that refused to care for its sick.

The big 5 health care companies reported profits last year of a total of 12 billion dollars while also dropping 350, 000 higher risk customers. As long as greed and profit driven insurance companies are getting away with murder, we are screwed. Congress should pass a bill that would take 50 percent of a company's profits each year and put those funds in the bank for use by people needig healthcare. GD lobbyists and crooked politicians are the real problem.

Because you recognize that sharing a risk can reduce the cost for everyone. You also are intelligent enough to realize that that every disease cannot not necessarily be attributed to a single cause. Runners die of heart attacks. Vegans get stomach cancer. Cancer can strike anyone at any age. Accidents do happen.

I used to work with a guy who was alternative (lets say) and didn't carry health insurance because he was obsessive about taking care of his health. I pointed out to him that his refusal increased my cost because his emergency room visit would be covered if car ran him down on his bike. He was smart enough to figure out the rest so he opted into to the insurance.

We all pay all the time for other people's misdeeds - it is a fact of life. Heck, the 8 years of Bush were not my fault. The crumbling infrastructure of this country is not my fault - but I pay for it every time I get in a car. If you don't like having to pay for an advanced information-age society I'm told there is room in Somalia for anyone with enough firepower to survive.

There were some anarchists around here before but they dissolved, no use telling them to go to Somalia.

In Europe, the more "socialist" countries tend to cope with the crisis a lot better.

I don't know what it's like in the U.S., but there is no significant difference between Democrats and Republicans in terms of socio-economic policy anyway.

You're exaggerating No1, no one has said care for the sick should be refused only that it should be a choice.

You're not very consistent though are you, why don't you advocate the same level of health care for alllllllll society.

Here's a good article by Trudy Rubin comparing our mess of a health care system to those in countries like France and Germany: http://www.philly.com/inquirer/columnists/trudy_rubin/20100228_Worldview__Lessons_can_be_learned_from_European_health_systems.html?viewAllLatest=y&text=
