If a last-minute legal challenge fails, from Tuesday, gun owners in the state will be allowed to carry their weapons in a lot more public places - including bars and restaurants.

...

State legislators - a quarter of whom own firearms - have passed a law allowing guns into bars and restaurants, but preventing their owners from buying alcohol.

...

"We don't need vigilantism inside my business," he (restaurant owner) says. "I'm a gun owner, I have a gun at my home, but I keep it there, not at a public place where many people's lives can be threatened.

And he has support from the city's police chief, Ronal Serpas, who does not believe that people who walk into bars with guns will steer clear of the shot glasses.

"If you think about how alchohol influences the choices people make... I don't believe people are not going to drink and have guns, because I know they drink and drive," he says.

Ok, so it's the Wild West again. Yeeee haaaaaa!

In my opinion, if you keep the gun at home, it's ok because you're protecting your home from some armed burglar. But in the streets? C'mon, what's the police for?! And as the Chief says: 'people drink and drive', what may stop them from drinking and feeling macho and playing with the gun?

I say it is a step backwards... back to the 1800s!

Our state legislature is deciding on whether or not to allow guns in bars. When thinking about this, keep in mind that with the anti-smoking laws, smoking is forbidden in bars. 🙄

Isn't the police supposed to catch burglars as well?

Yeah if someone breaks into your home at night just call the police and everything will be just fine.

So, Sam, what do you think about guns in bars and restaurants?

Nobody's going to forget my side Caesar salad ever again, that's for sure. 😵

But this is ludicrous. In Ontario, you can't even bring your gun to a shooting range without traveling on a prescribed route. I can't believe how lax the gun laws are in the US, so much so that proposing allowing guns in bars or restaurants doesn't immediately set of the crazy alarm. 🙄

Of course, if the King of England ever shows up at the local Denny's trying to push Americans around, I will consider changing my mind. 😉

Let the owners of bars and restaurants decide and set the terms and conditions for entry to their property. Customers can then choose to patronise either gunless bars or otherwise, same with the smoking ban.

I know in which bar the customers would be extremely polite.

So, basically, you're all for Old West living, right?

You know, people hanging around on their steel horses, carrying their .44 or their .38

Yes, I might choose to enter a bar like that, but then again I might not, maybe I've already experienced a bar like that. That would be between me and the bar owner and have absolutely nothing to do with you.

Dude, chill, you're a dork and your agressive typing is just... well... typing.

Do you grow nuts when behind a keyboard or what?
