Yup; that's the case with any business.

Public or private, they have a vested interest in keeping the balance exactly where it is: they make a median salary of over $400,000... many times over the median salary of the people actually doing the work.

I do indeed. A university president is an easier job that requires fewer qualifications than a full-time professor and accordingly should be paid less (the same applies to many managerial positions).

The salary structure tells us everything we need to know about the business model they're using.

It has little to do with a "business model" and much to do with the freedom university administrators get when it comes to hiring and remuneration practices. Since administrators are in charge of determining their own salaries, they just assign themselves a high salary. CEOs in business use the same tactic.

It is really sad when an adjunt with a Phd gets 11 dollars an hour and a warehouse worker at Amazon gets 15 for driving a forklift. Says something pathetic about our system.

Just like schools k12. At those rates you don't need adjuncts.

Too many Americans think education and science are Liberal conspiracies. While hedge fund managers make 6 and 7 figures, educators struggle. Super capitalism at it's finest.
