We have some pretty progressive people around here. Now be honest, what would your view be for these two people....

Person A. Female who takes the kids and leaves her husband.

Person B. Male who leaves his wife and children.

Do you have the same feelings about both?

If your point is that, absent more details, most people would portray or assume Person A as "Oh, poor Person A probably had to get away from an abusive relationship. She so courageous. She's a single mom and deserves unquestioning public support" and Person B as a "deadbeat dad" who abdicated his responsibility and abandoned his family...

... then you're probably correct.

Who gave up most of his/her career to care for the children?

Do you have a working assumption to answer that question absent any additional facts?

Of course not.
But absent further information, I could easily be wrong about what happened.

In my case, we separated and I took the child.

Of course this has almost nothing to do with having an equal society.

No, actually. I misread the post thinking it was about a divorce.

IF either came out as gay they would be praised for their courage and patted on the back and be the toast of the town.

IF either left for other reasons, ultimately it would not bring much disdain from the left since their ideology is all about family "diversity" and people doing what they feel like doing sexually, especially if it destroys the traditional family. That is an added bonus that will bring them votes.

What about:

Person C. Female who leaves her husband and children.
Person D. Male who takes the kids and leaves his wife.

It's the abandonment of the kids that I would be prone to criticize, regardless of gender.

Edit: But they should seek counseling and try to make it work. It's called a vow.

I have to say, sometimes its better for the parent to just pick up and leave, depending on how much of a nut case they are.

I remember a case where a mother was a drug addict and had a small child. She overdosed and died and the sad depressing thought I had was, maybe the kid has a chance now.

Absent more facts, my guess is that most people would see Person C as having been so desperate to get out of an abusive relationship that she had no choice but to sacrifice (Poor C!) and Person D as a kidnapper.

Where, as apparently in your case, the parties make an agreement, I don't think anyone would have a problem with whatever the agreement is. Presumably, the OP's case was where there was no agreement.

It seems to me that mothers believe they have the natural right to the children and the courts have backed that up. Having said that, from time to time guys are getting the kids now, but still women get the advantage.

Switch genders if you like, but the results are the same. The person who gets left is without the kids, while the person who leaves is also without the kids.

I said be honest, but if you can't that's ok too.
