I would say that, so far, Mike Patton's Mondo Cane is a good candidate.

Wow. Never heard of the guy and I am blown away. Thanks for the tip. Every song I've heard thus far has been amazing.

Mike Patton is perhaps best known as the singer of Faith No More. His vocal diversity is amazing, but his compositions are also amazingly eclectic. You'll find his other work, if you should choose to check it out, rather different. His main influences are Frank Zappa and Ennio Morricone, perhaps that will give you an indication of what to expect.

Watched a bunch of related vids on YouTube last night--- until midnight! Indeed, very eclectic sensibilities, and very talented.

I was never a Faith No More fan, and I think now I should probably take a longer peek into their stuff... as well as more Patton. Thanks again!

"Vertical Voices" The music of Maria Schneider By Kerry Marsh and Julia Dollison

Check it out on I-Tunes! It's absolutely the best damned album I've heard in years. Even Maria Schneider (Grammy Winner for Blue Sky) has endorsed it. To be sure, you have to give it a listen before you judge it!

    Garbage.

Sounds like a bad version of the James Bond theme songs. I guarantee you won't ever listen to this stuff by next year.

Not bad, but I prefer the way Mazzy Starr did that style of music....15 years ago. Much better voice imo

If you say so. I have several dozen of Patton's works and collaborations, and in my music files, which are sorted by genre, it's in the Mike Patton & Related folder. So I can guarantee you you're wrong.
