16 and 17 year olds in Scotland are permitted to buy their own beer, wine or cider to drink with a meal as long as they drink their alcohol in an area of licensed premises set aside purely for consuming meals.

I will have to admit ignorance of that law. I can't believe they let kids drink beer over there. Incredible!!! Issues with alcoholism must be very high.
Something that doesn't make sense is being able to smoke at 16 but not being able to buy them until 18...So an adult who is considered to be so at 18 would have to buy the fags for them.
