Thanks for putting up some nice prizes there. The one on merit should be a nice incentive. Have fun doing judging that - upset or even single game brilliancy prizes are much easier to give out.

He most likely will just do it based on how high the player's rating goes up... Yet I wonder what he would do if a player rated 1900 worked his way up to 2000 compared to a player rated 1300 who got to like 1450 or something.... I'd go for the former but meh.
You get 10 extra games, but the time control balances keeping the tournament moving with allowing for a decent holiday should the need arise.
Yeah, since I'm putting up the prizes, I get to decide the "merit" prize.
Normally, a lot of people enter tournaments that they don't realistically have a chance of winning. In this tournament, however, everyone has a chance of winning a prize, no matter what their rating is, or where they finish.
I can't say exactly what the criteria will be for chosing the "merit" prize winner yet, but i will give a full explanation when the time comes. Suffice to say that if you play a game or two above your normal ability, you would certainly be in the running. I will be looking closely at the results and playing through a lot of the games.
Just don't cheat, though! Ve hav vays and means of schpotting such tings! 😠
I'm hoping to see some outstanding chess! Also, if I get time, I'd like to keep a "state of play" commentary going on this thread.
