does anybody know how the pairings are to be done for this tourney? Random or by rating? Or another way?
Just my preferance, but wouldn't random be better?

Well, against similarly rated opponents I do okay (win some, lose some) Against people 300 points ( and even 200) above me I have been getting smashed. Maybe you could group players into a range, then go random. Just my two cents.http://www.timeforchess.com/board/newpost.php?threadid=3551&frompage=1#

I vote for random as well. I think if the tournament is set up so that the highest rated player plays against the lowest, the second highest plays against the second lowest, then you're almost guaranteeing who will be in the final, whereas with random we could see some very interesting upsets and matchings.

I do agree with the sweet butterfly despite she has shown her "bee-tendencies" !!!! LOL
Random, but the path should be stated like the winners from the group 1 and 3 meets in the second round. The winner meets the winner of group 5 and 7 winners!.....

That would be interesting, if a bit unusual. Then for the best player, your toughest games would likely be at the beginning of the tournament and get progressively easier, while the players with lower rankings would face progressively harder games. Again, this is assuming that rating is an adequate barometer of skill, which may or may not be the case (sorry about that, Dave.)
