Praise Muffy! Wonderful post. It shows intellect, logic, and actual thought. Gets my rec, and I almost never give those out. I don't suppose you'd want to join my clan, The Mystery Men? No? Okay, had to ask. Keep up the good posts, and don't let all the mudslinging get you down.

Sure I can judge and compare mythical constructs like OT monster God and Zeus. OT monster God is a lot more bloodthirsty; Zeus is hornier according to the relevant myths. You judge other people's gods all the time by saying they don't exist; aren't you being a total hypocrite (a common fundie trait)?

A new Humpty Dumpty-Coletti definition! Jealously is not a modern notion if it's in your KJV which wasn't exactly written in the Space Age. Jealous means "intolerant of rivalry or unfaithfulness"; I'd say that definition perfectly fits the OT passages. In essense, you are doing again what you invariably do: constructing a preconceived notion of your God and then arguing backwards from that notion that the words in the Bible can't possibly mean what they say! At least you're consistent in your never ending struggle to redefine the world into Colettiesque.

I was wondering where my shadow got to.
"intolerant of rivalry or unfaithfulness";
That does not contradict what I said. You just ague to be augmentative.

If it doesn't contradict what you said, God is jealous and jealously is a weird concept for an omnipotent God, don't ya think? And if there's only one God, how come OT monster God says "you shall have no other GODS before" me? Fess up; the primitive Israelites, like other primitive peoples, created a god just for them, their Sugar Daddy - they accepted there were other gods but those weren't the bomb like OT monster God. It was a common ancient belief system that if you displeased a god, he'd punish you and your ancestors for this transgression. If you're going to believe in a primitive superstition, can't you come up with one a little more original than OT monster God?
BTW, check the thread and see who posted first and you'll see who's "shadowing" who. Tootles.

Don't get defensive, son. There are plenty of threads that show a remarkable respect for one and other's belief systems. Trust me, this is about the mildest board I've ever seen in terms of "spiritual" debates. You stumbled into a thread where folks were blowing off some silly steam and proceeded to castigate everyone for childish behaviour.
If the glass slipper is your size, you might as well wear it, Cinderella.

Would have been nice of God to look the word up in a dictionary before he made a Commandment out of it.
