    In the old covenant God had to take extreme measures to save the human race from being forever trapped with a sinful nature.
    Events unfolded in such a way, due to Satan's obstruction, that almost made it impossible for a virgin to be left to bring forth a savior, if God had not taken drastic measures by introducing the law. The law placed consequences on sin, to slow down man's corrupted nature.
    There was no savior available like we have now.

    So are you saying that prior to about 30AD, God was the cause of pain and suffering, and since then is not, or are you saying only the Jews experienced pain and suffering he caused, or what?
    I also don't get what the covenant has to do with the human race. He made the covenant with the Jews.
