I don't know why this tickles me so. An entire community of Canadian Mennonite expatriates went lock, stock and barrel from Manitoba to Chihuahua, Mexico (!) in the 1920's to avoid WW1. And just look at them now!

I came from a mennonite background, and that story is a faker, One women dont like mennonites, and makes a big story of it. Drug dealers have been known to dress like them to avoid suspicion

Why would they feel the need to leave the country? The Canadian armed forces were all volunteer through both World Wars.
Not ony that, but WWI ended in 1918. I think the news had reached them by 1920, even if they didn't use radios.
