I occasionally find recs helpful as a way of knowing that other people agreed with a thought, including when they agreed with one of mine. If I don't find them helpful, I ignore them.
I would much much rather have spurious recs around (and it's fairly obvious when they ARE spurious) then have whole waves of inane posts along the lines of "Yes" or "I agree". There's quite enough of them already, reducing or eliminating recs might make it worse.
[Oh, and Nyxie, don't sell yourself short. You write LOTS of good posts. I'm not sure that I've ever recommended you, but I know I actually make sure I READ something with your avatar next to it, not just skip over it.]
what happens if you only log onto the site once every 2 weeks and read all the forums and there's seventeen brilliant things you want to rec?
Sorry, too.
It was just beyond my imagination that someone had so little time to log on only every two weeks and then...
read ALL the posts and rec 17. How long does this take? Hours? strange calendar...
Of course you are right and making fun of it doesn't helpπ
Would u actually believe i had the very same idea just yesterday but my joy was dashed from me when i saw you had already posted this..
Oh well, rec went your way for it anyway. maybe create a new site idea thread with this to get russ's attention.
Well I did send him feedback, and I note that 2 of the top 4 recommended posts now are mine and dale21's original post to get this thread started. So I'm sure Russ is aware.....now will he answer????????
