They are also very important in non-verbal communication. Think of raised eyebrows for surprise, one raised for scepticism, fruled eyebrows for anger etc.

Do they serve any purpose at all ?
Shave them and you'll see :-)
I burnt them off completly once, and I don't recomend sweating
without them. Sweat in the eyes is annoying.
The direction of the hairs in the eyebrow is designed to lead sweat to run down either your nose or on your cheeks (spelling)..

Roger Moore built an entire career on his eyebrows.

Yes, they also divert rain from the eyes in the same way.
I think hair around the armpits and groin is for stopping bits of skin wearing away where they would rub.
Hair on the head is for heat insulation and to stop the sun burning you.
Hair up the nose is to filter out small flies and stuff.
Anyone know what the somewhat finer hair on the arms, legs and chest etc does?
I was under the impression the fine hair on the arms and legs was for warmth. When it's cold they stand on end to trap a layer of air to insulate the body... of course whether so few hairs can actually achieve a beneficial effect is arguable!
