White to play. In this game, from which this position has been taken, Mikhail Tal was playing as white. This position seems a bit extraordinary.

    Here's a middle game puzzle.

Instructions: In this position Black played 1. .. Rxd4.

    a) With that move Black gave away the win.
    b) The resulting endgame is draw, however Black couldn't achieve more than that anyways.
    c) Black gets clear advantage now.

Together with your answer you also have to give detailed explaination why you chose this or that answer. This requires detailed analysis of all the possible variations.

Hope this isn't too difficult for you. If you like it, I have a book with 120 middle game puzzles and another with 120 endgame puzzles like this one.

Probably is too hard but I'll give it a go. Thanks.

White is to play. Didn't you read the text below the diagram? And this is a puzzle where nothing else is said. Just find, in your opinion, the best moves for white.

Edit: I can give you this symbol: +-
It means 'white gets a decisive advantage'

Yep, it is. Black is forced to exchanged queens and in two moves white inevitably gets a new queen.

Sorry... I thought Black played Rxd4. Then if Ra1 then Rxg4 is an easy win for Black- I thought that Black played first.

He did. Don't mix up the puzzles. Ra1 is for the one I submitted. The one from Tal's game.

In this puzzle, Black obviously cannot win...so, in four moves, move black into a stalemate position. Black to move.

If you want, here is another puzzle...(you said feed you!)

In this puzzle, white is basically hopeless, but has one move preventing a loss. What is white's move?
