I heard he replaced his whole "formulate a plan" method with just "observe the imbalances and a plan should come naturally". I've never read Silman but that method sounds more realistic to me. In my experience sticking to any one plan rarely works.
Or maybe he's just caving to the recent community obsession with tactics training...

Then again, in my experience "just observing the imbalances" rarely makes a plan simply bubble up in my mind. If I want a plan, I have to go and look for it, and even then I'm liable not to find one.
