    Just finished a game on blitz where I very dubiously sacced one of my rooks for an attack and managed to get the win. Was curious as to whether or not it was sound.

    Enjoy!

    It's a courageous sacrifice you made 🙂

    What about 18. Be2? It's a double attack (RxQ) that lets you recapture the bishop on f3 with a piece.

    For black:
    20...Qe7 or 20...Re8

    25...Qd1++

    I don't think the rook sack was sound - but it was gutsy in blitz.

    Oops🙂 I did the same thing but it wasn't blitz, on the game I posted here, the draw.

    Sound schmound, it was Blitz and you won. More importantly, I also bet it was real fun. 🙂

    Wow, always embarrassing when you miss a mate in one!
    That's always my problem, I get too obsessed with my own attacks and always fall vulnerable to counter attacks.

    I think 18.Be2 was the way forwards, but like I said I get overly obsessed with my own attacks and ignore my defence. Was exceedingly good fun though 🙂 🙂

    VelvetEars is an old nickname for my dog who had the softest ears imaginable 🙂

    Saw that game of yours, was very interesting, very open game.
