Is it possible to find scorsheet from first round of ICCF cup that started 1980?
It's definitely not in computers but in a cellar or cave, I think.
I took part in ICCF cup 1980 and missed qualification for 1/2 point and would like very much to get moves from some interesting games of mine. (Yep, I lost that precious note book.)
Organizers of my tournament were in USA, referee was American, and the archives are in USA.

It's a long, long shot, all right, but i doesn't hurt to ask.

Good Luck Vandervelde,

I kind of know what you are going through. I lost a score book with
200+ games played between 1977 and 1982.(my golden years)
Some good stuff in there, luckily a few were printed
in books, magazines, newsletters etc but there are one of two
I'd like to see again.

What was your rating in FIDE talk back then?

Hi sonhouse,

Never had a FIDE back then. Did not get one till I was 55!
My Scottish grade floated about 1900-2000+.
That was in the days when 2000 was a good grade. 🙂

But this is not about me. Help vandervelde.

vandervelde can you recall any names of those you played?

I am sorry. So many excellent games from that era. The ICCF should have saved all of them.

I reckon you are going to be very lucky if this comes to light. I was controller for a couple of tournaments run by the BPCF back in the day. Players sent in a score sheet at the end of the game. There was no follow up procedure for dissemination so many of them just ended up in a shoebox or something. Some might be forwarded to the Organisation's magazine's games editor as I did mine, but after that they were probably just cleared out by the controller's grieving relatives years after the tournament had been forgotten. If you can remember the name of your section controller you might have a chance...
