Is one allowed to look up so called 'chess databases' or books during a game, or is that not allowed according to the rules here?

Originally posted by propawnkillerExcept if you do that then if you make a move on the board Fritz will reply. What you need to do is turn the engine off (Engine -> Switch off Engine or Ctrl+Shift+M). You'd also be better to use Chessbase Lite or some other database handling program. That way you have not only the opening book but the games themselves.
Turn on Fritz, turn of "main engine pane" and it won't calculate any moves. Then go through the opening "book" (actually more of a database) and replay your RHP games. You can analyze by yourself which is way faster than the analyze board here. Since it doesn't calculate any moves for you, it seems to be allowed on RHP.

Originally posted by XanthosNZThanks, I forgot to mention that you have to turn on the analysis modus (so it won't reply) before you turn of the main engine pane.

Books and databases are allowed to be used during a game. Help from engines is not. Make sure you know the difference between a database and an engine.
