We all rave about beautiful combinations and the ideas behind them.
But the following study by A.A.Troitzky, if it occurred in a game would
be just as famous as the Morphy at the Opera game.
I've pulled off some good combinations in my time and some have
even been sound. But this creation is something I could never have
thought up. It's beautiful.
I solved it years ago. I had to. No solution was with the original source.
When you get it (and you will - eventually) you will feel great.
Expert solvers will have seen it. So don't spoil the magic moment
you will get when you solve it by looking at further posts.
Set it up ypur board and throw the bits about to give you
the full pleasure of the final position in the flesh.
A classic.
White to play and win. Enjoy.
Hint: Don't stop following a line until you are 100% sure it's wrong.
It took me about 30 minutes. I had it in 10 but stopped
looking at the winning line because it was going nowhere.
