siege is a 'winner stays on' type of thing

you play for control of the board and if you win you get to keep control

the player with control plays as white (i think)

You join a queue for a siege board (they have different time controls) and when you get to the front of the queue you play the person 'defending' the board. You will (as a challenger) play white. If you lose, then you'll need to re-join the queue or find another board.
If you win then you become the defender and play as black against the next person in the queue.
The games are otherwise normal rated games.
