Historians argue about who won the war.
Was it Canada? USA? Britain?
There can be no doubt that amongst the winners were the 3,000 plus slaves who escaped American slavery.
After the war Britain "compensated" the USA for their loss.
Britain gained nothing from this.
Originally posted by FMF Maybe not, unless some of the troops that picked up battlefield experience then went on to perform well in the Peninsular War. Just a thought.
I doubt it - the Peninsular War had been going for some time.
Maybe the other way round(?)
Anyway my comment about Britain not gaining anything was specifically pertaining
to the compensation payment for escaped slaves. As far as I know it was an
altruistic gesture. (?)
So what exactly is the score, weighted appropriately for the 21st century geopolitical world? I want the answer in microfarads over seconds to the power 3, as clearly that will be most useful going forward.
