Didn't come to me all in a flash; only bit by bit, through years of hard work and doubt. Life is like surfing a wave a bit too big to handle: there are moments of seemingly effortless grace, punctuated by getting thrown off and nearly drowned, and practise-practise-practise. But it's not the bruises that matter; it's having the courage to climb back up on the board, paddle out, and have another go.

I suppose myself and indeed everyone else here on planet RHP who hasn’t sufficiently indulged in the dubious pleasures of surfing will will have to take your somewhat hackneyed analogous simile at face value; your years of hard work self doubt and bruises notwithstanding of course.

We all go through tough times, learn from our mistakes and press on regardless.

I was not either, but came a long way from using an out side outhouse.

Yes, it is called a bucket in your room so you don't have to go to the outhouse! ๐Ÿ™„ Better known as the honey bucket!
