Times change. People have become sensitised to things they were blind to 40 years ago.
Different societies tolerate different behaviour, too. Groping is part of daily life for women in Italy; gangs of boys sometimes shadow a woman and grope her in broad daylight, no one intervenes. Gangs of young men tried that in Germany and were met with public outrage and indictments.
