Well, the brain takes up 20% of our total energy so if you use it you need to also rest it. I have to solve nasty problems at work when my instruments and tools go awry and some of them require hours of troubleshooting, dozens of schematics out tracing why a certain signal path is not working and I find I have to take breaks to reset my brain so I can get back to the problem at hand.

Often when things look like they'll never get resolved a step back (break/nap) brings a new perspective.
Sounds a bit like when my dad came home from work one day and asked what was for supper. My mum pointed to the kitchen ceiling where the thing she had cooked in the new pressure cooker was, after the pressure release valve, either failed or was not properly attached.
