I have a numbered/signed limited addition print by Robert Bateman that I purchased 25 years ago. Yesterday I thought, "I wonder what it's current value is?" so I goggled it and found a place that sells them. Now, as a nonsubscriber I have advertisements appear when I play. Well what ad should appear today but the site which I googled yesterday concerning my print. Does RHP track my internet googles?

Nonsubs only reply or former nonsubs of course.😀

I googled for a replacement 4-pin 26 watt CFL on Tuesday, and yesterday had a pop-up ad for exactly that. (I forget the link I was at when that happened, but it wasn't RHP.) A few months ago I googled for a Bose system and had popup ads for the exact same system for days.

I didn't mention that when I googled it I was on the RHP site. As I type this that same ad appears here now. As William Shatner says, "Weird or what?"

I googled something recently and then I got an e mail
a few hours later asking if I was in need of a certain product.

I had not asked for anything. The e mail was totally unsolicited.

I think what happened is this.

My browser is google chrome and my e mail is g mail.

I think that google chrome sees all and knows all about your business
and as such makes a point of targeting you with this kind of marketing
    strategy.

Did you ever stop to think that maybe Google wouldn't know your business if only you didn't use Chrome and Gmail?

Maybe I am just stating the obvious but a lot of people
    may not realize it.

I was only trying to be helpful.

I suppose whatever internet browser you use
is going to list all your deep dark secrets.

Have you any you'd like to share?

How is google able to put that particular ad onto my RHP "account" without the knowledge/permission of RHP or is there permission given?
I understand that as a nonsub I am prone to ads and certainly don't begrudge RHP from doing so. I was just wondering if I'm "tracked".

If you use Google to search from almost any site, even if you're not using Chrome or Gmail, google-analytics will pick up the tracking information. You can (in Firefox at least, don't know about the others) install something like abine's DoNotTrackMe, but you may have to allow exemptions if the site is to function correctly. Check out http://www.google.com.au/analytics/ to see what google offers to businesses who want to see what their customers may be doing without those customers being aware of it.
