The colors on the Irish flag all represent something, bonus points if you can tell me what without looking up the answer.

Some of my beers are green but that's because they are moldy. On he up side, no one comes over to my place for a beer. Now the whiskey? That's a whole different game.

The Green represents the Catholics ... I think green was the colour of the Bishop of Ireland and it was picked up by the Nationalists.
The Orange represents the Protestants (Orangemen ... ultimately links to William of Orange).
The white represents the Peace between them.

btw: I have had a disagreement a few times with Irishmen insisting the flag is gold. white and green, but I believe the flag's colours are actually defined in the constitution.

The official colour of Ireland is BLUE, St Patrick Blue (Sky Blue) to be precise.
The Presidential flag is I think a gold harp on a blue background.

All done from memory so details may be shakey!
How do I know this trivia?
6 years teaching about the British Isles!!!. Kids love flags, πŸ˜€

The red hand on the Ulster flag has an interesting story which the kids loved!

Orange would be totally inappropriate for St Patrick's Day.
