Does this mean the end of the UK as the UK, now to be downgraded to Great Britain? Is it a sure thing that Scotland will leave the union?

There was a poll recently about Scotland and they didn't leave. I don't think the next poll on this topic is imminent.

Great Britain includes Scotland.
The UK is NI and GB

The election results are devastating for Labour and a backlash against government promises unfulfilled.

The biggest catastrophe was the annihilation of the LibDems.

Great Britain is England Scotland and Wales.
The UK is England Wales Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The Act of Union goes back to 1707.
Northern Ireland was included in the UK
after the Government of Ireland Act 1920.
This Act saw the partition of Ireland by the British.

There were many Irish who did not like this partition as
they wanted a completely free united Ireland with no British influence.
This led to the Irish Civil War that lasted from 1921 to 1923.

Despite all that, whatever happens in Britain is mirrored closely by us.
We have a similar health service and a similar civil service.

The only difference here is that we have proportional representation in elections
whereas the British have first past the post.

Farage has criticised this system this morning as it does not serve the
democratic interest in his opinion.

The political landscape in England will now be less colourful now he has gone. 🙂

Hi Johnny, I see you play instruments, do you play Irish trad? I play Irish, English, and American old timey tunes and write my own folkish tunes.

Yes I play Irish Trad. The Americans love it.
Our own audience, (The Irish) are sick of it and would rather
have rock and blues. 🙂

Luckily, we can do both.

I play guitar, Gibson SG and Gibson Les Paul Goldtop.
Also play mandolin and bouzouki which is kind of like a big mandolin.

Started playing trad at the age of 8.
Progressed then on to blues and rock.

I like Niel Young, Free, Lynard Skynard, George Thorgood,
Led Zeppelin, Whitesnake, Rainbow and Deep Purple.

I see Prince is going to do a show soon in Baltimore.
He's a brilliant guitarist. 🙂

During the last referendum,
some Scots voted no because they
seriously thought that they would
not receive some BBC TV programmes.

But on the whole they bottled it. Fear took over.
Lots of older folk are afraid of change and so they
voted for the status quo and remained in the Union.

Wonder what will happen this time?

The SNP have absolute power now in Scotland
and may demand another referendum on Scottish Independence.

Down south in London, Cameron has promised a referendum in 2017
to see if the British people want to leave the EU.

Interesting times ahead..............

they are a left of centre party that threw their lot in with the Torys when a coalition with Labour was what most lib dems expected so they lost nearly all their seats and me being a socialist applaud their demise.

Ok I understand. The Tories are toxic and the Lib Dems were perceived to have sold out to them. So Judas man, the people have spoken, its all over for them.

They spoke to the separatists in Canada (The Bloc Québécois) and I'd be surprised if the issue of another referendum arose in the next 5+ years.
