I'm sure most of us knew this distinction anyway, but Nate Silver has quite a humorous post this morning about the difference between a single payer system and the government controlled network like the NHS.

    Not bad.

It's frustrating seeing so many talking heads on tv and otherwise blatantly lie about the Canadian system. Just like any system, it's not perfect but if you think it's that horrible then you shouldn't have to lie.

thats because he doesn't live here.

I think the US should have universal healthcare, but it should never be like the NHS.

There is a third option, too. Private health care, but partly funded by the government. I think it could work really well in the US.

That maybe the case. But there is a big difference between saying

'anything is better than the NHS'

    to

'i think the NHS is no model for the country like the US'.

its better to have the NHS than to not have anything, but lets be honest, the NHS sucks.

I don't think it sucks. Sure it has it's problems. But it provides free universal health care for all and that, in my opinion, is something to be proud of. But then again you're Brazilian, so i guess we don't have the same perspective on these things.
