I disagree. The fight against vampires, while triggered in Lincoln by personal tragedy, was also related to their entrenchment in the Southern power elite. The defeat of the CSA caused vampires to flee in droves from the US (and, of course, their elite vampire fighting unit was decimated at Gettysburg due to the silver munitions rushed by train at the behest of and under the personal protection of President Lincoln).
