Donald Dumph has made "fake news" a popular slogan these days. It's too bad for him that he's wrong about this most of the time. Major news organizations usually have their facts correct before publishing them. It's too bad that Trump supporters will blindly hang on his every word, and not bother to find out who is really telling the truth.

It's unfortunate that Reublicans elected a liar and it's even more unfortunate that they actually believe his words. Given the power matrix trend we will see more and more of this as the gullible part of democratic society will need time to sort out these lies. Hopefully, this will end with consequences for lying politicians, but more likely we will end in war as the elected officials play Domination on a global scale.

As has been discussed before, incorrect news is NOT fake news. Fake news is news that has been deliberately fabricated and published as news when it isn't. Like satire but more malicious.
Many major news organisations get their facts correct (not all), but that shouldn't blind you to the fact that they are very biased in a variety of different ways and that your view of the world is shaped partly by which news organisations you follow. You should also remember that a large part of what you get from the news is not explicitly stated facts, but the grey areas. How bad is crime? Is a war with North Korea imminent? Is abortion morally wrong? None of these are 'facts' that can be found in the news, but you probably do have an impression of an answer that you have got from your particular news mix. For the less well educated the grey areas are much bigger and extend to things that could actually be fact checked, but they don't have the skills or background knowledge to do so.
My challenge to anyone who thinks they have a rational balanced view of the world, is to spend a couple of weeks listening exclusively to Chinese news. It will wake you up to some of your own biases.
