    Ha!

Are you kidding? In the fifties, every American kid wanted to be Gene Autry or Dale Evans. They used to play cowboys and Indians or sandlot football and pick-up baseball games. They read Mad Magazine or crazy EC horror comics where people got their eyes stabbed or the heads cut off! They had dogs and ponies, bb-guns or .22 rifles, and they rode bikes. It was the greatest time to be a kid. Now, lawyers and do-gooder activist types have sucked all the fun out of being a kid. All they have now is X-box.

Hannah Montana confusion aside, your willingness to summarise complicated, nuanced facts about the world in terms of impressions and pitch the result as a serious discussion makes you an excellent candidate for hipsterdom.

Except that I'm far too old and far too conservative to be hip.

    Well?
    Hipster?
I thought that term went out of fashion with large moustaches, hairy vaginas and the Eagles.
