We had a challenge issued last week by a page one clan. At face value the current ratings seemed reasonable, and the average worked out. However, a click of the ‘info’ button clearly highlighted that 3 of the players had current ratings 300 points lower than their 1 year-rating. Probably some of the biggest sandbagging I’ve ever seen. I didn’t bother batting this back, just declined it and moved on.
What did surprise me though is that this particular clan has other challenges just underway that includes these players, and therefore the accepting clan leader must have been happy to agree to challenges that they are clearly going to lose! My guys would’ve been most unhappy if I’d set them up to fail like that!
So, I see a lot of messages about ‘unfair challenges’, but the bottom line is that the current, 90-day, year and TER ratings for each challenge are clear to see, the clan leader is not forced to accept, and can either bounce it with revised players or just decline it and move on.
Why do clan leaders accept unfair challenges?
