I've suggested that those clans go into a "bank" for members to see. Rather than creating a new clan every time, members willing to lead a clan could "shop" for an available clan first.

If all the members got bounced and all the clan's points were scrubbed, and if clan leaders could actually change the name of their clan's forum, this idea would work.

I started my own new clan because
1. No members to try and respect their ideas about how the clan should be handled.
2. I wanted to be fair and not gain a leg up by appropriating another clan's points, and
3. I wanted my clan's forum to be named after my clan, not another clan.
