You started with 1. c4 which is the English opening, but with 1. ... d5 2. d4 dxc4 it transposed to the Queen's Gambit Accepted.

    Hi Steve.

Good game but before you send a move you MUST look at the board
for unprotected pieces and see if there any way you can profit from them.

You had this position with you to play.

Now everyone can see the Black Queen sitting on d5 all alone and unprotected.

If the e4 Knight was not there then Bxh7 CHECK clears d3 and you win the Queen.

    So 1. Nf6+ gxf6 2.Bxh7+ Kxh7 3.Qxd5

    Got it? Good,

    Now the heart breaker.

The good players on here will now be looking at what happens if after
1.Nf6+ Black does not take the Knight but simply moves the King.

This is good chess and should be a chief consideration when saccing a piece.

"What happens if he does not take it?"

Indeed, what does happen if Black declines the offered piece on f6?

(you still have a piece on f6 - use it).

You could have dined out for years on this one - it's pretty rare.

It's not just the good guys who can produce the magic.
Don't think for one minute these thing cannot happen in your games.

STOP! Look out for unptotected pieces. Calculate.

This wee unheard melody was hiding in that game.
