My name's Carlos. I'm a 35-year-old Spaniard living in Prague (Czech Republic). I've been playing chess since my 12 years old, but I started taking it seriously around ten years ago. My actual local ELO rating is 2068.
My favorite about chess is endgames. I think they make the difference. I have no doubt about that. There's no margin for mistakes. In the opening for example you always have the choice to play this or that attack/defense, or even play a specific line. That's why there are so many openings! In the middle game you also have the choice to be aggressive or to play more quietly... In endgames there is no such choice, no lines, no strategies.. just right or wrong moves. You either get the full point with the right move (or avoid a loss!), or you get wrong, and spoil the whole game.
Moreover is there anything more exciting and beautiful in chess than rook and pawns endgames?
