I just started playing chess again in April 2008. Before that I hadn't played seriously or regularly in 30+ years but I'm having a good time getting reacquainted with the game.
I used to play in home room when I was in school (7th and 8th grade). I actually was in a chess club and came in second in our tournament in the 8th grade. I did read one chess book, Lasker's "Manual of Chess", at around age 14.
