Started playing chess as a youth, played in a club for one year (age 10 to 11), then found "cooler" things to do for the next 20 years. Had a game here and there, but really started playing again in 2008 after a bit of coaxing from a buddy. As an American living in Germany, chess is a great way to keep in touch.
